Hello 6th Grade Lakeside families!
This page has been designed to support 6th grade students and their families with the 7th course registration process. Information regarding transition will be provided to students and families in November. If you have questions as you navigate through this process, please contact your school counselor, Heather Lindsay (hlindsay@k12albemarle.org).
Transition Timeline
- November 14, 2025: Course registration information is shared with 6th grade families.
- December 1, 2025: Course Planner opens in SchooLinks for students to select courses.
- Guardian Course Plan 2 Page Guide
- Guardian Video to Course Planner in SchooLinks.
- For SchooLinks access, please contact your child's school counselor for a personalized link and code.
- December 10-11, 2025: Counselors visit 6th grade students in math classes to introduce Course Planner.
- Math courses for 6th grade entered in course planner
- 6th grade exploratory teachers explore electives in course planner
- January 7, 2026: Course Planner closes in SchooLinks closes for course registration.
- Changes after this date must be made by your school counselor.
- February 2-13, 2026: Teachers make comments on Math selection.
- February 18-23, 2026: Course verification letters sent to 6th and 7th grade families with Sign up Genius links for conferences.
- February 27, 2026: Course verification letters are sent to families.
- March 4-20, 2026: Family conferences available to review course opportunities and class requests for next year.
- March 27, 2026: Last day for course request changes.
- May 29, 2026: By this date, teachers will review SOL scores & student requests. Teachers will contact families if a change in placement is warranted.
7th Grade Classes
Middle School Courses 2026-2027
- Language Arts- Language Arts 7, every day
- Math- Two levels are available:
- Math 7: Every day. Students can take Math 8 or Algebra I in 8th grade.
- Algebra I: High school credit course that is every day OR every other day. Compacted Math 6 or Algebra Bridge completion preferred.
- Science 7- Life Science, every other day
- History 7- United States History II 1865-Present, every other day
- Health/PE- Every other day
- Electives- Click here for the list of elective courses available in 7th grade.
- Note: Classes advertised may not run in 2026-2027 due to low student interest or staffing constraints.

Starting with a Black day on the first day of school, our days rotate between Black and Teal all year. If we miss a day due to weather, workday, etc., we simply pick up on the next scheduled day.
